Objective To investigate the mechanism of OGD(oxygen and glucose deprivation)-induring neuron apoptisis and the neuroprotective effects of AnNao Pill on OGD-inducing neuron apoptisis. Methods Cultured primary cortical neurons were pretreated or not pretreated with AnNao Pill medicated serum and were exposed to the OGD model. The results on cell viability, the apoptosis rates of neurons, the expression of Bcl-2, caspase-12, GRP78and Cytc were tested. Results The rates of apoptosis and the expression of caspase-12,GRP78and Cytc in the OGD group were higher(all P<0.05)than those in the normal group; the expression of bcl-2were lower(all P<0.05) than that in the normal group. The apoptosis rate and the expression of caspase-12and Cytc in the AnNao Pill group were lower(all P<0.05)than those in the OGD group; the expression of bcl-2were higher(all P<0.05)than that in the OGD group. Conclusions AnNao Pill has a protective effect on rat cortical neurons against apoptosis and its mechanism may be that it can regulate associated-proteins of apoptosis.
