Introduce Extrauterine Growth Retardation And Its Risk Factors In Very Low Birth Weight Infants

Objective: To review the phenomenon of extrauterine growthretardation and analyze its risk causing factors in very low birth weightinfants.Method: A retrospective review is chosen for hospitalized prematureinfants from September2009to June2011in neonatal intensive care unit inChildren’ Hospital of Chongqing Medical University. Inclusion criteria:birth weight <1500g, admission time<24hours, hospital stays≥14d,and freeof congenital anomalies and heredity metabolic diseases which have a badimpact on individual growth and development. Exclusion criteria: hospitalstays<14d, abandon therapy or die before discharge. The selected infantswere divided into EUER group and non-EUGR group. Chi-square test ischosen, T-test for normal distribution measurement data comparison andrank sum for non-normal distribution measurement data. Binary logisticregression is adopted to analyze EUGR risk factors.Result: The incidence of EUGR is85.1%and non-EUGR is14.9%inthe87VLBWI from September2009to June2011. Compared with non-EUGR group，the incidence of IUGR in EUGR group is higher, and theaverage gestational age, discharge age, the time of returning to birth weightand starting enteral nutrition are longer(P<0.05), discharge oral energy islower (P<0.05). According to the logistic regression, the risk factors whichcausing EUGR include: IUGR(OR=0.77), starting enteral nutrition(OR=12.081), returning to birth weight(OR=48.404)。Conclusion:（1）The incidence of EUGR in VLBWI is high；（2）IUGR,long time for starting enteral nutrition and returning to birth weight are therisk factors to cause EUGR. And long time for starting enteral nutrition andreturning to birth weight are the main risk factors。...
