Objectives:To study the expression of osteopontin and integrin αv, β3in endometria,and toinvestigate their role in endometriosis-associated infertility and pathogenesis ofendometriosis.Methods:The expression of osteopontin and integrin αv, β3in endometrium of patientswith tubal infertility and endometriosis infertility were determined by employingimmunohistochemical method.Results:The expression of osteopontin in patients with tubal infertility,endometriosisinfertility is that secretory phase were higher than the proliferative phase in eutopicendometrium, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There were nosignificant differences between the expression of osteopontin in secretory phase andin proliferative phase in ectopic endometrium of patients with endometriosisinfertility(P﹥0.05).The expression of osteopontin in secretory phase is that the patients with tubalinfertility were higher than the patients with endometriosis infertility, the differencewas statistically significant(P<0.05).The expression of integrin αv in secretory phaseis that the patients with tubal infertility were higher than the patients withendometriosis infertility, but the difference had statistical significance(P>0.05).The expression of osteopontin in patients with endometriosis infertility is thatthe ectopic endometrium were higher than the eutopic endometrium,the differencewas statistically significant(P<0.01).The expression of osteopontin in patients withtubal infertility was higher than the patients with endometriosis infertility,thedifference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The expression of integrin αv inpatients with endometriosis infertility is that the ectopic endometrium were higherthan the eutopic endometrium,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).Theexpression of integrin αv in the ectopic endometrium of patients with endometriosis infertility were higher than the endometria of patients with tubal infertility,thedifference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The endometria of patients with tubalinfertility and the eutopic endometrium of patients with endometriosis infertilityshowed no expression of integrin β3.Both the proliferative phase and secretoryexpress integrin β3in ectopic endometrial of patients with endometriosis infertility.Conclusions:The abnormal expression of osteopontin and integrin αv in the secretory phase ofpatients with endometriosis infertility may be one of the causes of infertility inendometriosis. The abnormal expression of osteopontin, integrin αv, β3in the ectopicendometrium of patients with endometriosis may be one of the reasons that theectopic endometrium can be successfully grown.
