| To investigate the expression of WAVE2in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma and its clinical significance. Methods:The expression of WAVE2protein in55cases of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma tissues were detected by immunohistochemical methods. And Western blot was employed to detect the expression of WAVE2in laryngeal cancer tissues and paired normal tissues. The multi-factor Cox analysis, combined with the clinical pathology and follow-up data were employed to elucidate the relationship between the expression of WAVE2protein and clinical characteristics and prognosis. Paired t test was used to analysis the expression of WAVE2between laryngeal cancer tissues and paired normal tissues.Results:1.The positive immunohistochemical staining of WAVE2protein expression is located in the cytoplasm. Among55cases of laryngeal cancer tissues, the expression of WAVE2protein positive rate is significantly different from the positive expression58.2%(32/55) and negative expression rate41.8%(23/55)。And the expression of WAVE2in laryngeal cancer tissues is significantly high than that in the normal tissues (P=0.03)。2.The expression of WAVE2protein in55cases laryngeal cancer tissues is significantly related with the clinical stage(P=0.014),tumor size in diameter (P=0.032) and lymoh node metastasis (P=0.015). However, the expression of WAVE2protein in laryngeal cancer tissues is not related with sex (P=0.404),age (P=0.431),the primary site (P=0.379) and pathological grade (P=0.588)3. Among55patients,16in high WAVE2expression group and39in low WAVE2expression group, the average survival time was46.6months, median survival time was58months. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis result shows that High WAVE2expression group post-operative survival rate is significantly lower than low WAVE2expression group(P=0.009), and High WAVE2expression group post-operative recurrence rate is significantly higher than low WAVE2expression group(P=0.001). High WAVE2expression may predict a poor prognosis of laryngeal cancer patients.4. Cox analysis result shows that WAVE2expression is an independent predictor of the prognosis of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma.Conclusion:1.WAVE2may have been involved in the occurrence and development and metastasis of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma. 2. WAVE2might become a tumor maker as a predict prognosis of laryngeal cancer. |
