Radioactive source repository is an important place where various types of radioactivesources are intensively stored in nuclear logging industry,also plays an important function ofmanagement and maintenance.If the security and protection measures are not perfect, willbecome a major source of risk. Because of the lack of uniform standards at the beginning ofdesign, radioactive source repository in service were not generally normalized, part of themface the problem of technical equipment and protection facilities ageing now, and several areclosed to full load operation. We should be timely to evaluate the risk and take measures.Therefore, it is important to study on the methods of risk assessment.Through review of the literature, field survey on radiation protection, test of performanceof loading facilities and source, and measurement of environmental radioactivity level, wecollected the risk data of radioactive source repository in a logging company. We use themethod of analogy and Delphi to identify risk events; and to make qualitative analysis of riskwith matrix based on domestic and foreign standards,aim at studying on the type of riskexisting in well logging radioactive source repository and its level, providing technicalsupport for the enterprise on risk decision-making and management, and ensure it’s safety ofradiation.It can be confirmed that there are ten types of risk existing in well loggingradioactive source repository, including the radioactive source lost, stolen, or out of control,radioactive source surface pollution, leakage, the crowd exposed in accident, and theradioactive source container damaged, or aging as the high risk; high dose irradiation,accidental irradiation of occupation, and manual operation risk as the middle risk; enter theradiation workplace by accident, fire accident, and environmental radioactive pollution of nonaccident as the low risk. The well logging radioactive source repository can not absolutelymeet the current national standards with some potential safety hazard. So the managers ofenterprise must pay enough attention on the current troubles, and timely improve controlmeasures with the help of relevant experts and technical persons.According to predetermined criteria,this research evaluated risk degree of each risk event,put forward the corresponding control measures,for the first time established risk assessmentsystem of nuclear logging sealed radioactive source repository, developed a new idea andmethod, but as a tentative research, there are still some shortcomings and deficiencies, need toimprove and enhance.
