Objectives (1) Meta analysis is used to evaluate hazards impacting simple obesity of Chinese pupils comprehensively;(2) Cluster sampling is used to examine overweight and obesity situation of3rd to6th grade pupils in Lanzhou, Gansu province; empirical analysis is performed on epidemiologic features of overweight and obesity of this group and references on prevention and treatment of childhood obesity is provided. Methods (1) Computer retrievals in four major Chinese databases:VIP, CNKI, CBM and WANFANG are used to collect case-controlled studies on simple obesity of pupils. Retrieval time ends in February2014. Two valuators do literature quality assessment in accordance with Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) standard and performed Meta analysis with Review Manager5.2.(2) Cluster sampling is used to select pupils in different districts in Lanzhou as research object; questionnaire survey is conducted among2000students from3schools through cross-sectional study and withdrew1940questionnaires, with a recovery rate of97%. Epidate3.1is used for data entry, for which consistency check is performed. Veracity of data input is ensured Statistic analysis of materials with SPSS18.0is performed; chi-square test for enumeration data, t-test for measurement data and Logistic regression for multiple-factor analysis etc are used to analyze the relationship between all influencing factors and obesity. Results (1) with a total research amount of2083documents,10satisfactory studies are included in accordance with exclusion criteria; with a total research object of5611students, among which2781students belong to obesity group and2830students in control group; all results are showed in Odd Ratio. Meta analysis indicates that at least one obese parent, adding supplementary food too early during babyhood, birth weight, dietary habit, eating speed, sitting time, sleep time, participating in sports are obviously related to obesity.(2) Lanzhou children research selected1940students as research objects from3schools in different district, among which409children is over-weighted, with271boys and138girls. Detection rate of boy is higher than that of girl. Chi-square test and multiple-factor Logistic regression analysis indicates that at least one obese parent will lead to obese child (OR=6.234), irregular breakfast<7days/week (OR=2.112), eating time<20minutes (OR=3.126), sitting time>8hours (OR=1.537), preferring greasy food and sweetmeat (OR>3.672), parents encouragement on eating more (OR=5.152) and other factors have relationship with childhood obesity, while preferring sweet fruits (OR=0.461) is a protective factor of childhood obesity. Conclusions Meta analysis states such factors as obese parents, eating fast, adding supplementary food too early, preferring meat diet, sitting for a long time and hating sports will increase the risks of obesity. Detection rate of obesity in Lanzhou area shows an average of national level. Single parent family, parent’s BMI>24, eating disorders, eating fast, preferring greasy food and sweetmeat, often drinking sodas, sitting for above8hours/day and parents’ lacking of awareness of obesity are hazards that will cause childhood obesity.
