Objectives: To investigate the early outcomes and mechanism oftherapeutic mild hypothermia in rabbits suffering severe traumatic uncontrolledhemorrhagic shock. Methods: Twenty SPF New Zealand rabbits weighing2.5±0.2kg wererandomized into2groups: Group1(mild hypothermia), group2(normothermia).With urethane anesthesia, animals underwent kidney artery catheter inserted andintestinal injuries with hemostat, then suffered blood withdrawal to createuncontrolled hemorrhage shock models. Rectal temperature was controlled atnormothermia(38℃)or mild hypothermi(a34℃), received limited resuscitation, hemostasis, aggressive resuscitation in turn and observed for8hours. Theserum Potassium (K)、Lactic Acid (LACT)、Creatine Kinase MB Isoenzyme(CK-MB)、 Creatinine (Cr)、 Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT)、 AspartateAminotransferase (AST)、Tumor Necrosis Factor-α (TNF-α) at Base Line(BL)、T0、T1、T2、T3、T4,as well as servival and fluid requirement at theend point, were noted. Result:(1)At the end of the experment, survivors and survival time ofmild hypothermia group (9/10, survival time,477min) was a little higher thanthe normothermia group (8/10, survival time,461min), but there was nosignificantly difference (p<0.05).(2) Serum LACT, CK-MB, K, Cr, AST, ALT,TNF-α of group1on each time point are lower than group2(p<0.05).Conclusion: Traumatic uncontrolled hemorrhagic shock takes advantagesfrom therapeutic mild hypothermia. It may contribute to that mild hypothermiacan decrease the organs’ damages by ischemia-reperfusion injury.
