China has witnessed the rapid development on teaching Chinese for foreigners.The TCFL’organization has discussed and studied how to implement teaching of culture.More and more teachers focus on the importance of culture in Chinese courses. There isa close relationship between language and culture, as well as language teaching andculture teaching.This paper discusses culture integration in Chinese courses for Indonesia students.It has collected five Chinese classroom teaching videos. By analyzing those videos anddata collected by two questionnaires, this paper intends to investigate how Chineseculture is integrated in Chinese courses in IndonesiaThis paper, firstly, introduces the relationship between culture and language, andthe significance of culture integration in TCFL. And, then it introduces contemporarystudies on culture investigation, including principles, contents and methods of cultureintegration. A review of the studies demonstrates that domestic TCFL’organization hasnot lived up to the standard, especially on contents and methods of culture import. Thenthe paper describes how culture was integrated in Chinese courses in Indonesia. Theanalysis shows a series of problems in the current Chinese courses in terms of cultureintegration.In order to have a better understanding of Indonesia TCFL, the paper also reportsthe results of questionnaires. Finally, the paper discusses some possible suggestions topromote culture integration for Chinese courses in Indonesia.
