Based on research and historical materials, this paper explores the history and status ofZhenkong Religion in Singapore. It starts with a brief discussion of the origin of ZhenkongReligion located at Huangshe Mountain at Xuwu County, Jiangxi Province and is followed withthe doctrine, canons and main religious activities. This paper focused on the history of ZhenkongReligion in Singapore. It was introduced into Singapore during1900~1908. With the efforts ofHuang Daoyun, Lin Huawen, Xu Rukan, Huang Dazhong and someother overseas ChineseZhenkong Religion laid its primary foundation during1900to1930and made Singapore thecenter of Zhenkong Religion in Southeast Asia, which also resulted in the forming of ZhenkongReligion’s four branches. As it met the needs of that time and missionaries worked hard onpreaching, Zhenkong Religion peaked in its development with the largest amount of churches.After1970, as government began requesting land and some other problems appeared, thenumber of church and disciples started declining. Although Zhenkong Religion is now waning inSingapore, there are still quite a lot of disciples who practice the belief while striving to revivethe teachings.
