This paper carries out a systematic research on the selection of Chinese teaching materials, which were compiled in Singapore and prepared for the primary Chinese foundation stage (the former eight copies). On content, the paper explores the characteristics of the texts in times, geography, ideological topics and themes, and on this basis, the paper also probes some problems, such as the function and role of the localizational themes, natural and scientific themes, and China's outstanding culture on this kind of teaching materials, adopting the statistical analysis. In language, it mainly inspects the presence and distribution of the main function of the textbooks explored in such materials, explores the problem that how to deal with the relationship between the "communicative function" and the "ideological and cultural nature", and puts forward some suggestions. In types of literature, the paper carries out a comprehensive study on the distribution of the types of literature texts, and re-examines the forms of literature, especially the important role of the "verse" in such materials. Finally, on this basis, we provides some views and suggestions on how to improve the target in compilation the overseas Chinese teaching materials and teaching materials of teaching Chinese as a second language.
