Over the last few years, the researches on Chinese literature in North Americafrom the perspective of Imagology have earned a wide attention in the academic fieldsof literature. After thoroughly studying the fruits of these researches, it is not difficultto find that former scholars mainly focus on the elaboration of “same-race image”,butrefer little to the writings and their developments of “alien-race image” which wasdepicted by different writer communities in various periods. Specifically, the image ofJews which is of great research value requires a further digging. When it comes to theworks of Chinese literature in North America in different periods, the constantdescriptions of “Jew” image suggest writers’ great interests in Jews and also thedeeper reasons behind this phenomenon. On one hand, shaping “Jew” image in theliterary works presents us mentality of writers with double living experience towardsthe facts of leaving motherland and illustrates the complexity of culture identity. Onthe other hand, it provides a new angle for studying Chinese literature in NorthAmerica and its evolution. Therefore, taking novels of overseas students and new immigration as studymaterials, the research is conducted according to theories like Imagology, Narratologyand Diaspora in Postcolonial theory from a perspective of “Jew” image. This paperaims to summarize the Jew image in Chinese literature in North America and itswriting developments, and explore the changes and developments of overseas Chineseculture identity in different historical backgrounds, thereby reflecting on theapplications of Diaspora theory in contemporary Chinese literature in North America.
