| When North American Chinese literature continues to develop in the new era, the new immigrant writers of North America have gained a new understanding of themselves, examined the world and comprehended the nature of human through writing. They have dug deep into the theme that “literature†is “humanismâ€. During this period, they create a large number of characters that suffer a lot in literary creation. In the post-colonial context and from the perspective of humanism, the “victims†have the obvious overtone of symbolism. Therefore, this thesis takes the novels written by the new North American immigration writers as the research object, tries to analyze the characteristics of the image of the victims in the novel, and explores its deep significance and cultural value. The central argument of the thesis is that by describing the artistic image of “victims†and exploring the human nature under extreme circumstances, the new immigrant writers reveal the plight of their pioneers—— being unrecognized and voiceless, which even reflects a difficult process of metaphor to the modernization of China. The writing of “victims†implies the new North American authors’ meditation of Eastern and Western culture, historical facts, and mankind’s survival situation. Based on the binary perspective of immigration consciousness, the literature of new North America immigrants transcend the simple binary opposition, and seek the power that could surmount misery and the healing of psychological wounds in a more open cultural vision. |
