On the basis of reviewing previous literatures, and based on the perspective ofempirical research and the training of pre-task preparation mode in classroom teachingof English listening, this study adopted the combined methods of experimental test,interview and questionnaire to investigate the effects of using different types of advanceorganizers strategies on the improvement of college students’ English listeningcomprehension acquisition for different listening levels.The results of the statistical analysis (ANCOVA) showed that students whoreceived advance organizers demonstrated significant improvement in listeningcomprehension posttest while the control group (the students who don’t receive advanceorganizers) did not. Although participants’ listening proficiency had a significant effecton listening comprehension acquisition, there was no interaction effect between the useof advance organizers and the listening proficiency levels. Meanwhile, students holdspositive attitude towards the use of advance organizers before English listeningcomprehension.The significance of this study lies in the fact that it preliminarily reveals thepositive roles of different types of advance organizers in students’ English listeningcomprehension acquisition.
