Reading With Hand-the Study Of Tactile Design Upon Graphic Design

With the development of digital technology, the traditional graphic design fieldhas been impacted deeply by new media. Contemporary graphic design changedremarkably not only in the way of thinking and design methods, but also intechnologies and aesthetic aspects. In this context, this article attempts to analyzethe unique phenomenon "tactile design" through studies on the psychology,communication, art, etc. Basing on cases analysis, the article tried to reveal thetactile design’s theory and its special value in practice.This paper first discussed changes of audience aesthetics in information societyand analysised the impact of digital technology on graphic design. Then the researchundertook an in-depth analysis of the "tactile design", including the phenomenon ofsynesthesia and the relationship between material and design. Finally, the paperdeveloped a special research on "tactile design" and the traditional printingprocesses, including prepress support, substrate, print technologies, etc.The research shows that although digital media are becoming more and morepopular, traditional print media will still be existing. In the future, if the graphicdesign can be more innovation, it should not confine itself in the visual expression,but to make full use of all human senses, especially the tactility.
