Nowadays, international convergence and cultural diversity has become anindisputable fact. In the twenty-first Century, the international exchanges have becomeincreasingly frequent with the trend of globalization. Therefore, cultural development ofthe world will no longer be separate, but form the coexistence of diverse cultures with theirinteraction. In the course of intercultural communication, communicative objects, at thebeginning of touching a new culture, often have a "cultural shock" phenomenon, which isnamely the heterogeneous cultural confusion, exclusion and inadaptability as a result of thedifferences of cultural patterns. This kind of "cultural shock" phenomenon, even withoutlanguage barriers, will hinder the smooth of intercultural communication more or less. Therefore, to research the "cultural shock" theory of intercultural communication, canhelp foreigners and overseas Chinese to understand the behavior and emotional tendenciesof themselves and get a better understanding of the culture shocks they have experiencedand the difficulty of adapting to their new environment, so that they become able to learnto adjust their study and life in the different cultural environments. Meanwhile, it also canhelp us to draw attention to this phenomenon and is beneficial to us to understand thecharacteristics and differences between Chinese culture and Western culture more clearly. It means that we should not only have a good understanding of the western culture, butalso learn to face our own culture in the view of others. At the same time the research ofculture shock is also helpful to promote cultural exchanges between China and foreigncountries and improve the fusion of Chinese and Western culture.
