Portrayal About The End Of Post-le Dynasty:Characters Analysis In The Reunion Of The Kingdom

The Vietnamese historical novel The Reunion of the Kingdom is the representative work of Wu Brothers. As a famous novel of complementation of history, it reflects the struggle among every party during Post-Le Dynasty in ancient Vietnam. Through the description of the activities of such political leaders as Emperor Le, Master Trinh, and Tay-son government and the representation of vivid political stage, the novel has revealed what human beings think when being at the end of a dynasty and the reason of the collapse of the dynasty. By analyzing the characters of the novel, the thesis is to reveal the close relationship between people and historical politics, and to look into the lessons implied in the novel. The thesis consists of four chapters.The Introduction includes the studying significance, the present situation of the study, the main content and innovation of the thesis and the studying methods of the thesis.Chapter one introduces the background of the novel, the main content, the political parties that the characters belong to, and the features of the characters. In this chapter, the thesis argues that the troublous situation of Post-Le Dynasty provides political stage for the characters, and the struggle among them leads to the collapse of Le Dynasty. Chapter two is to analyze such characters as Emperor Le, Master Trinh, and Tay-son government. With the emphasis on analysis of characters ’thought, behavior and personality in milestone, the thesis is to reveal the close relationship between people and the destiny of a nation. This chapter is the body of the thesis.Chapter three is to study the ways the characters of the novel are made. Through general description, event telling, decoration with literary expression, in apparent description and imagination rather than appearance description and psychological description, the characters of the novel are made vivid.Based on the above analysis, this thesis argues that events and characters in The Reunion of the Kingdom are combination of historical truth and artistic truth and shows a broad way with infinite vitality for documentary literature which reflects main in history process.
