The paper makes the Characters comparison as thebreakthrough point, Acomparison between Vietnamese historical novels,TheReunion of the Kingdom and with a Chinese historical novel, the story of ThreeKingdoms,and analyzes them. Through comparing the main characters betweenLili and Liubei,Lishan and Zhugeliang,Ruanzheng and Caocao,to discuss how doesthe story of Three Kingdoms affect personage’s image-building of Vietnamesehistorical novels,and it will reveal the breakthrough and the innovation ofVietnamese historical novels when they learn from the experience of Chinesechapter novel and do creative writings-Vietnamese historical fiction. It issummarized that The specialists and scholars’ study on Chinese and Vietnamesenovels focus at their similarities, rarely involve their otherness,so it’s difficult todiscover the breakthrough and the innovation of Vietnamese historical novelswritten in Chinese. The purpose of this paper is revealing the traces of study andinnovation of Vietnamese historical novels written in Chinese by presenting athorough study of the similarities and otherness and reasons of the three novels.Chapter one studies the characters’similarities of the three novels,show that,Vietnamese novelists copy from a similar stylization of the story of ThreeKingdoms,Lili and Lishan and Ruanzheng,some of their features are highlighted,being typologized figures, except Ruanzheng.It reflects the imitation traces whenVietnamese writers s are in their early writings.Chapter two treats of Lili and Liubei,Lishan and Zhugeliang,Ruanzheng and Caocao,their otherness. The novels indicates that Lili’political skills andpolitical purposes are more hidden than Liubei, Lishan are abler than Zhugeliang todominate destiny,and Lishan’military expertise is more prominent.Ruanzheng’character and thought are much more complex than Caocao,and is morerealistic,stereoscopic. Thus it may be known, Vietnamese writers distinctlyinnovative when they learn from the artistic technique of the chapter novel.Chapter three discusses Chinese writers’and Vietnamese writers’ writing areinfluenced by their academic attainment and experience.it show that, Chinesewriters and Vietnamese writers advocate benevolent government,the idea is mainlyaffected by Confucian thought. Besides, Confucian benevolent is highly respectedby Chinese writers and Vietnamese writers,so they object very to govern byforce.The sense of pursuing independence of Vietnamese novels comes mainlyfrom Lingnan Folk Legend and writers’ comprehension and meditation about thehistory and reality of their country was being invaded.In all, homologous culture, the wish of pursuing independence, cultural studyand copy,breakthrough and innovation in thought,and so on, are seen reflected inits characters.
