Social comparison was defined as that compare ones opinions and abilities to others" and get better meanings of them. One of the objective and motivation of social comparison was accurate and stable self-assessment. And high level of self-assessment was helpful to improve the performance in both training and competition. As was suggested by previous researches, emotion was an important factor through social comparison affecting self-assessment process. Intended to disscuss the effect of emotion on self-assessment, firstly appropriat emotion-prime materials were necessary. As a result, Study1developed a Sport Circumstances Affection Pictures System. And in Stduy2these materials were used to examine the effect of social comparison and emotion on self-assessment.Study1developed a Sport Circumstances Affection Pictures System.4expert-evaluators and66undergraduate-athlete-evaluators evaluated the valence and the intensity of each picture. Then a representative Sport Circumstances Affection Pictures System was established. Each picture in this system contained the type of valence, ratio of approvement, intensity, gender, event, individual or group factors.Study2applied the pictures in the system to prime the emotion, in order to investigate the valid of the system, and at the same time to investigate the effect of emotion during the process of social comparison influencing the self-assessment. In the pre-research of Study2we drew up the materials of social comparison. The official research was a2X3between group design. Primed the social comparison and emotion and investigate the changes of before and after self-assessment. Result:1)Pictures of the Sport Circumstances Affection Pictures System can prime3kinds of valence of emotion. It means that pictures are accorded with the characteristics of the athletes, and are of a good ecological valid;2)There is no significant difference in the effect of emotion during the process of social comparison influencing the self-assessment;3)Self-satisfaction is the most important dimension of self-assessment and there is a significant difference of the effect of emotion during the process of social comparison influencing the self-satisfaction of self-assessment.
