Discourse markers is a characteristic pragmatic mechanism in oral communication. It does not constitute the proposition content of the utterances and its core meaning is the procedural meaning rather than the conceptual meaning. It has a very rich interpersonal function and textual function. Discourse markers are the strategies which are used to attract the attention of the hearers and guide them to participate in the communication. Meanwhile, the speaker will take certain measures to organize the discourse, in order to the coherence and smooth cohesion. When the foreign students use Chinese for effective and appropriate communication, they need accurate understanding of discourse markers, avoiding pragmatic errors. For the research on discourse markers, many achievements from foreign countries are concentrated in the field of English, while the domestic studies on discourse markers has just started. Especially the study of foreign students’ acquisition of Chinese discourse markers are not deeply.In this paper, based on a large number of oversea students’Chinese spoken language corpora, we did the specific analysis of the high-frequency discourse markers from foreign students in the oral communication, and in-depth analysis of the application scope of discourse markers in the natural spoken language as well as the errors of discourse markers acquisition. Then we explored the reasons of the errors from some aspects of grammar system differences between the target language and the source language, and cultural background differences. At last, we summarized the language rules which interfere with foreign students’ acquisition of discourse markers and put forward the corresponding suggestions on the errors made by foreign students. The paper consists of six chapters:The first part of this paper is the introduction, mainly introduced the research goal and the significance of this paper, research summary in domestic and overseas as well as research method and the source of corpus.The second part mainly introduce the definition, characteristic, classification and function of discourse markers, meanwhile, on the basis of the former researches, and state the theoretical framework of discourse markers, including The Relevance Theory, The Pragmatic Adaptation Theory, Conversational strategy and so on. The third part, according to transfer students’ oral corpus, find out the Chinese discourse markers and classify the statistics, then find out the high-frequency discourse markers in the oral communication. In this paper, making the discourse markers "ranhou(然后)”,‘’zhege/nage(这个/那个)”,‘’suoyi(所以)”,"jiushi (就是)”(?)s the research object, it studied the pragmatic functions of these high-frequency discourse markers.The fourth and the fifth part, analyze the students’ oral errors and the pragmatic functions of the discourse markers to explore whether these errors would be influenced by mother tongue transfer and other languages or not. Put forward suggestions about the teaching of discourse markers acquisition for foreign students. The conclusion part of this paper makes a general summary, and points out the drawbacks in the research.
