| As a common strategy in communication,DMs(discourse markers)is used to achieve speaker’s purposes.Therefore,it is important to master and using DMs for international students in cultivating an ability of communication.This paper selects six Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competitions as the source of corpus,and establishes a small corpus of more than 100,000 words through video recording.Based on the Principle of Goal-direction proposed by Professor Liao Meizhen,to investigate the pragmatic function of DMs used by foreign students.As a video discourse,the competition program involves many modes,such as language,image,sound and so on,it is helpful to provide enlightenment for Chinese international education from the perspective of multimodal discourse analysis.Firstly,according to the classification of pragmatic functions,the commonly DMs used by foreign students can be divided into four categories: the first is topic-organizing DMs,whose typical members are “womendouzhidao”,“qishi” and so on;the second is filling DMs,whose typical members are “jiushi”;the third is subjective attitude DMs,whose typical members are “wojuede”,“ worenwei” and so on;and the fourth is interpersonal interactive DMs,whose typical members are “nikan” and “nitingwoshuo”and so on.Secondly,this paper also finds that the textual function of topic-organizing DMs and filling DMs are more frequent using,among which the highly-frequency DMs“zhege/nage”,“ranhou” and “jiushi” of foreign students are mainly textual function.Finally,in the error analysis we find that due to over-generalization of target language and negative transfer of native language,foreign students often abusing,misusing and overusing DMs.The first chapter is introduction,mainly introduced the research background and the significance of the paper as well as research method and the source of corpus.The second chapter is research summary in "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competitions and DMs in domestic and overseas.The third chapter mainly introduces the theoretical framework: Principle of Goal-direction and multimodal discourse analysis theory.The fourth chapter introduces the definition,characteristic,classification and function of DMs.we find out that the high-frequency DMs used by foreign students in the oral communication are “zhege/nage”,“ranhou” and “jiushi”.Meanwhile,it finds that “zhege/nage” and “jiushi” have the function of continuing the topic,thinking and filling out the words,mending and supplement;“ranhou” has the function of advancing the topic,continuing the topic and changing the topic.The fifth chapter,we analyze the students’ oral errors and explore the reason.Then this paper put forward suggestions to Chinese international education from three aspects: textbook,teaching and teachers.The sixth part is a conclusion of this paper,which summarizes the research of whole paper and points out the drawbacks in the research. |
