This translation project report is not only going to analyze and summarize the problems encountered in the process of the back translation of Yu Fei’s version of The Moment in Peking, the Chinese name of which is called Shunxijinghua, but also to find the solutions to solve them. During the process of the back translation of Shunxijinghua, the author uses the "functional equivalence theory" of Eugene Nida to conduct the whole back translation practice; and furthermore, the author makes great efforts to have the version of the back translation and the Yu Fei’s version of The Moment in Peking reach "dynamic equivalence" as much as possible, which ensures the version of the back translation and the original text a high degree of uniformity in the aspects of phrases and sentences. In order to have the foreigners know the Chinese culture well, the author uses the translation of alienation combined with the methods of word-for-word translation and literal translation plus annotation and transliteration and so on to translate the Chinese names and the titles of Chinese people and Chinese unique cultural vocabularies. In addition, the author uses the original text (original work) as the reference standard to have a comparative analysis between the version of back translation and the original text to find the mistranslations and wrong translations and omissions. The Yu Fei’s version of The Moment in Peking would be tested by using the method of the back translation. By reading a great deal of literatures and combing the analysis of instances in this project, the author illustrates the author’s own experience and gains from the choice of the version and words and phrases.
