"A ye bushi, B ye bushi" is a specific sentence widely used in modern Chinesespoken language. Previous studies have not focused on this sentence systemically,based on the previous studies, this paper intends to give this construction intensiveanalysis, including structure, meaning and function. Text is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction part. Introduces the purpose and meaning,research related to this construction, frames the scope and object of research,introduces the related theories, methods and corpus source in the paper.Chapter II conducts a comprehensive study to the synchronic corpus of "A yebushi, B ye bushi". Reveal the characteristics of each component, give a descriptionof the structure’s syntactic, semantic feature and analyze the meanings of "A ye bushi,B ye bushi". In this construction, most of "A, B" are predicate or predicate phraseswith antisense semantic features. The first and second terms represent symmetryand cohesion. On the whole, this construction has flexible usages, it can serve aspredicate, attribute, adverbial and completive modifier.Chapter III uses Discourse Analysis theories to analyze the pragmatic functions.In a passage, the first clause provides causes for this construction, while thisconstruction can be the second clause, it’s a supplementary specification orsummary for the statement above or after. By way of substitution, ellipsis andrepetition,"A ye bushi, B ye bushi" makes the context more closely connected.Chapter IV researches the construction’s the emergence and developmentprocess from the diachronic inspection. The development of "A ye bushi, B ye bushi"can be divided into four stages: embryonic period, change period, stable period andfine-tuning period. This chapter also uses Cognitive Linguistic theories to explain themechanism of the construction and the existence of grounds. Chapter V is the conclusion part. This chapter summarizes the issues discussedto illustrate the value of the paper, compares "A ye bushi, B ye bushi" with theconstruction "A ye bu X, B ye bu X", examine their syntactic, semantic similarities anddifferences, noting some future research directions to continue.
