Gu Cheng who is called "fairy poet", is one of the representatives of Misty poetry in1980s. His verses shining genius-like spiritual light, reflect the vigor of poetic language itself. The poetry is his life, he interprets poetry infinite vitality and life everlasting poetic interpretation. In short but full of legendary life, Gu Cheng not only leaves us a rich spiritual heritage, but also gets us into a deep and lasting feeling and thinking. So far, the academic study on Gu Cheng for more than30years has been fruitful, but the richness of poetry and the poet’s own open up the study space for us.The poet image problem has caused heated discussion after the poet’s death. But most of the remarks are somewhat subjective, the later studies of this issue are not comprehensive and in-depth. Gu Cheng’s poet image is roughly divided into two aspects: the poet image in real life and in his poems. In real life, the Poet is full of innocence, imagination, also headstrong, paranoid, dependent, and has a strong sense of self and women worship thinking. He is incompatible with the human society and is always in a "marginal" status, stubbornly takes the fantasy paradise garden into the land of reality. In the world of poetry, the poet enjoys the freedom the arts given. Being an insect for a moment, people for a moment, the ghost for a moment, God for a moment. The poet seems to have the Monkey King’s72changes, to bring art into life. Poetry provides a free place for the dream and the harbor for a poet to escape real predicament. After all, poems can not fundamentally resolve contradictions and crisis. There are differences between the real world and the art world, the poet puts "I" in the real world and "I" in the art world confused, over-emphasizes the links and ignores the essential difference leading the poet’s own lost, and ultimately lead the irreparable tragedy.
