Research On Chongqing Machinery Industry Association During Anti-Japanese War

According to archive date, this dissertation focuses on investigating the development course, organization system and function of Chongqing Machinery Industry Association during Anti-Japanese War. This paper argues that:The primary reason why Chongqing Machinery Industry Association founded was that the rapid development of Chongqing machinery industry in the early years of the war. The government strengthened the trade association system, which provided political soil for Chongqing Machinery Industry Association. But due to the lack of stable political and economic environment, Chongqing Machinery Industry Association had changed dramatically since1943. On the one hand, because of the depression of Chongqing machinery industry, the number of Chongqing Machinery Industry Association’s member began to decrease. On the other hand, in the process of saving industry crisis, Chongqing Machinery Industry Association became more and more important.The organization system of Chongqing Machinery Industry Association was relatively complete. However, democracy was limited on the premise of capital, which hit the enthusiasm of small factories. And due to the imperfect ways of collecting funds, the image and functions of Chongqing Machinery Industry Association were affected. In addition, because the reward and punishment system was not in force, the member management of Chongqing Machinery Industry Association mainly depended on member’s trust.Under the controlled economy conditions, the function of assisting the government in managing the economy had increased. But in a certain extent, the autonomous function of Chongqing Machinery Industry Association had been impacted. Chongqing Machinery Industry Association tried its best to solve trade difficulties, but often with little success. Chongqing Machinery Industry Association assisted the government much in social mobilization. However, due to the controlled policy, the space of participation in politics was extremely limited, and its political function was suppressed. Moreover, by cooperating with government and the chamber of commerce in various social welfare activities, Chongqing Machinery Industry Association played an important role in social construction.
