As a kind of popular literature, nursery rhymes have rich aesthetic connotation and cultural value, and have an important influence on children’s personality, language learning and aesthetic ability. They play a positive role in children’s education.Because children’s psychological characteristics and language features are different from adults’, when translate nursery rhymes, translators shall not only follow the general principles, but also aim on the specialty of readers to make the translation more accord with children’s psychology and reading habits, and achieve the aim of education. It is also essential for the translation work of children’s literature to research and apply nursery rhymes.This thesis cooperates and analyzes two Chinese translations of A Child’s Garden of Verses to study the principles and skills translators used in the process of nursery rhymes translation, aims to draw more attention to translation of children’s literature especially the nursery rhymes.
