This translation material is the excerpts from a well-known novel Bailu Yuan, written by Mr. Chen Zhongshi. This translation report is based on Inter-cultural Communication theory by Edward Hall, the founder of this theory, aiming to achieve transmission and exchange between diversified cultures. This report, combining theory and practice, makes an analysis of translation examples in the translation material and of translation methods and techniques with regards to words, phrases and sentences, etc. Meanwhile, the author summarizes the experience from this translation practice and indicates the difficulties and the corresponding solutions in the process of translation, in order to share experience or provide reference for translators who encounter the same problem.This translation report consists of five parts. The first part briefly introduces translation material, translation purpose and significance. The second part presents the translation theory and specific translation strategy in this theory. The third part is the core part of this report, discussing translation methods and techniques in detail with examples. The fourth part mainly puts forward the difficulties confronted in the translation. And the fifth part is the conclusion. It concludes the inspirations and gains of the author drawn from this translation practice.
