Kim Ki-duk, the South Korean film director who is called the most potential leadership of the director in twenty-first Century with low cost, high efficiency and large influence by the Korean media. At the same time, he has become one of the focus of the international director because of the frequently International Film Festival Awards. Kim Ki-duk’s movies are often disputed because of the theme of sex, violence, and death. But as a main carrier of aesthetic ideas and aesthetic spirit, the aesthetic value of art can not simply be judged by its theme.This paper studies from the personal characteristics and the aesthetic pursuit of Kim Ki-duks film from his life and the films which writed and directed by Kim Ki-duk. The author thinks that Kim Ki-duk’s movies have distinct personality characteristics in the theme of redemption, metaphor and film creation concept of half abstract, and in the art form has a distinct conscious aesthetic pursuit, has Chinese traditional aesthetic category of "artistic conception", mainly reflected in three aspects----blending of feeling and setting, asthenia and sthenia, space-time conversion.This paper mainly uses the method of text analysis and cultural criticism, through the way of study on the author, watching film and reading aesthetic works.
