"N+N" appositive phrase that represents person is one of grammatical units both in Chinese and in Korean. However, linguistic studies have merely covered the surface structure of this topic. Therefore, the deep study on semantic features, restraining factors, syntactic structure and pragmatic function is needed. Basing on the theory of three-dimension, this paper aims at describing and analyzing the nature of "N+N" appositive phrase from semantic, syntactic and pragmatic perspective between Chinese and Korean in terms of both theory and practice.This thesis consists of the following parts:Part one, introduction, consists of the aims, the significance, the scope, the method of the study. It also introduces a literature review about the subject studied both in Chinese and Korean.Part two introduces the different definitions and classifications of "N+N" appositive phrase that represents the person which have been studied by Chinese and Korean linguists. First, the studies of different definitions and classifications are observed and then the semantic features are investigated. At last, on the basis of analysis, it reclassifies "N+N" appositive phrase that represents the person into two types:pre-modification and post-modification.Part three includes the contrastive study of semantic features of "N+N" appositive phrase that represents the person in Chinese and Korean. First, it identifies the semantic basis of this linguistic unit. Second, it analyzes the semantic features in Chinese and Korean. Second, it summarizes the similarities and differences both in Chinese and Korean. And then, it contrasts the inner syntactic structure of pre-modification and post-modification in Chinese and Korean.Part four contains the contrastive study of syntactic functions and pragmatic functions of "N+N" appositive phrase that represents the person in Chinese and Korean. First, it examines the grammatical function of pre-modification and post-modification in Chinese and Korean by giving the natural language as the examples. And then, it describes the holistic pragmatic function in Chinese and Korean. Then it analyzes the pragmatic functional differences and similarities of two types of appositive phrase in Chinese and Korean.Part five is about the conclusion as well as limitation discussed in this thesis.
