In traditional Chinese as a foreign language teaching, most teachers accustomed totaking some teaching methods and models led by grammars. But these teaching methodsare dull and abstract, and it is more difficult for foreign students to accept newknowledge. So the teaching effect is not very satisfactory.Under the general background that foreign language teaching should takedeveloping students’ pragmatic competence as purpose, a new teaching method appearsand gradually comes into people’s spotlights, that is lexical approach. This new methodattracts more and more researchers. It gathers the features of grammar-teaching theoriesand communicative competence theories, shows its advantages in listening, speaking,reading and writing.This thesis firstly introduces the theoretical basis of lexical approach, have a furtherstudy of the development of it in China and abroad with multi-view. After the furtherresearch, we may find that lexical approach is seldom to be studied in the field of TCFL.So the thesis takes the new method into four classic lessons to analysis the advantages ofit. Then the paper studies how to use lexical approach, and how to help students to set upChinese word-library and rich it. Next, based on the theory of lexical chunks, there is ateaching design about TCFL, which including a detailed teaching plan. In addition, inorder to confirm the effect of lexical approach in actual teaching further, I chose twoclasses to do a one-term teaching experiment. The students from these two classes havesimilar level. I take traditional teaching method to teach the students from Class A1,while take lexical approach to teach the students from Class A2. Then with the statisticsof final exam, I have a comparative analysis of the two classes. As a result, lexicalapproach is a new teaching method in the field of TCFL, which is proved to be worthpromoting, feasibility and effectiveness. Finally, the thesis puts forward the limitations ofthis study point and looks ahead the future of Teaching and Researching Chinese as aForeign Language.
