| The outlook of ideal personalities the gentleman delivers was advocated byConfucius, the famous ancient Chinese thinker and educator. For5000years, thisoutlook of gentleman has been playing an extraordinary role in shaping the charactersand mindsets among the whole Chinese people, be it those at home or abroad. On theother hand, the view on gentleman has been influencing the orientation value of theChinese nation. The young generation are the future and hope of the country, thepersonalities they deliver, therefore, are critical not only for their ownself-development but for the improvement of national people’s quality, the future anddestiny of the entire nation. For that reason, theoretically, this paper tries toconnect the Confucius outlook of the gentleman personality with the personalitydevelopment of the modern youth. Also, The paper attempts to elucidate the ways tocultivate the healthy personalities among the youngsters from the perspective of theyouth, the schools,and the teachers as well.To that end, this paper is divided into three parts. Based on the statement of thegentleman in the Analects, Part one is dedicated to elaborating the essence of being agentleman and the content of the outlook of him. Then, by comparing the "Superiorman" with the "inferior man", the former’s charismatic personalities are greatlyhighlighted. In this part, the paper also expounds the specific ways to cultivate thosecharismatic personalities.While, in Part two, the paper sets forth the criteria that ahealthy youngster should follow by surveying and analyzing the current situation ofthe Young people’s personality. And Part three is devoted to finding out theintegrating points between the Confucius outlook of the gentleman and the personalityof the modern young people. By learning from the saint’s related principles and byconsidering the current situation of the society, this part attempts to provide someinsights about how to foster the healthy personality among the young people. |
