This thesis takes big XU Ben Shuo Wen Jie Zi as the original text, takes Mibu(糸部),Yi bu(衣部)Jin bu(巾部),Ge bu(革部),Wei bu(章部), Lv bu(履部),Xi bu (舄部), Zhi bu(黹部),Ma bu(麻部),Mao bu(冃部),Mi bu(冖部),Mao bu((?)部),Bi bu((?)部),Fu bu(市部), Bo bu(帛部),Qiu bu(裘部)16character radicals and their characters as the object of study,bounded by the Eastern Han Dynasty,mainly focus on the ShangZhou Dynasty,tries to discuss the underlying cultural implications and connotations of Chinese ancient dress and adornment.The thesis utilizes the philology, etymology, ancient costumes as well as the ancient philosophy and other related science theories and analysis methods. Starting with the costume function, the practical funcition and social function command the full text.The thesis consists of major sections as follows:Introduction:In this part, we mainly introduce the purpose and task of the research, the theory and methods for the research and the time range of the research.Clothing Function:The paper takes clothing’s utilit function and the social function as a frame,-and also gives the concrete elaboration in detail separately from the different angles.Firstly, from the perspective of the practical function of clothing, this article divides the15radicals into4related semantic fields, such as "Clothing Material" semantic field,"Head Clothing" semantic field," Body Clothing" semantic field and "Foot Clothing" semantic field.Secondly, from the perspective of the social function of clothing, the paper lays stress on the introduction of the ancient human’s special aesthetic standards from the sense of hierarchy, ethical concept and ancient philosophical thought.Schedule:In order to more accurately reflect the direct object of study in this paper, specially enclosed partial character radical tables.
