The Study Of Construction "Na A Dang B" In Modern Chinese

‘Na A Dang B’is a highly significant construction in modern Chinese, which alsohas the constants and variables as other constructions. As an open construction, there aretwo different meanings of ‘Na’. One is as a rhetorical construction, and the other onecan be deduced from the constituent components. Both of them are able to express theirown formal features. On the basis of previous studies, this paper will comprehensivelyand systematically investigate the formal features, semantics and pragmatics of ‘Na ADang B’ by utilizing structure theory, focus theory and generalized methods of analysis.First of all, this article describes and analyzes the formal features of ‘Na A Dang B’.It summarizes the constituent components of ‘Na A Dang B’ including constants ‘Na’and ‘Dang’, and variables ‘A’ and ‘B’. It explains the reasons why the nominalcomponents can appear in the variables ‘A’ and ‘B’. It analyses the structuralrelationships and negative form of ‘Na A Dang B’ as well as expounding the reasons ofthe multifarious negative forms of ‘Na A Dang B’.Secondly, this paper analyzes the meaning of ‘Na A Dang B’ from the semanticpoint of view. It summarized the two main types of semantic relations of the variables‘A’ and ‘B’, analyzing the definite and indefinite of ‘A’ and ‘B’.Moreover, because the variables ‘A’ and ‘B’ have the focus and the topic features,therefore, this article analyzes the topic and focus situations of ‘Na A Dang B’. Because‘Na A Dang B’ is a subjective construction, so, except for analyzing its topic and focussituations, we also need to analyze the subjectivity of ‘Na A Dang B’ from the pragmaticperspective.At last, there are many similarities between ‘Na A Dang B’ and ‘Ba A Dang B’. Atthe end of this article, both similarities and differences between these two constructionswill be obtained by the comparative analysis for them.This article is committed to achieve the combinations of form and meaning,description and interpretation, and structure and function. It strives to proclaim thecharacteristics and functions of the ‘Na A Dang B’ multi-directionally andmulti-prospectively. From which it is expected to deepen the comprehensive understanding of this particular expression and provide a theoretical basis for theChinese diversified expression.
