There were only42schools for the blind, deaf and dumb with less than2000students in China in1946. Up to2005, there were1593special schools with3644hundred of disabled children students in China. Special education has becomeincreasingly mature in China. Special education is always a special form ofeducation which contains education on children with visual disturbance, hearingimpairments and language barrier as well as supernormal children and subnormalchildren. The tenet of special education is to teach students in accordance with theiraptitude. In this case, children who receive special education are drawing increasingattention. But it is so special that it is difficult to conduct researches on this aspect. But among various network reports, a psychological survey on a group of childrenwith visual disturbance carried out by a famous Chinese researcher for specialeducation got my attention. According to researches, children with visual disturbancehave strong senses of distrust, and are irritable, choleric etc. People are worry aboutthese issues. It is a reflection that their personalities need to be improved. Childrenwith visual disturbance lack a way for percipience and cognition compared withnormal children. Therefore, they learn things comparatively slow. This makes manychildren with visual disturbance have little sense of trust. As a result, theirpersonalities in the growth process stray from the normal development path more orless. It is particularly common to apply musical treatment in special education.Especially among children of infantile autism, successful cases of musical treatmentare common. Purposeful sing is a kind of musical treatment. Learning sings accordingto their interests and necessary parts of their personalities would influence theirpersonalities gradually and correct their errant personalities. According to researches, most children with visual disturbance are immature and like to self-display. Theydevelop well in habits and customs, mood stabilization etc. But they are poor inleadership, patience, general adaptability, insistence etc. What’s more, their socialadaptiveness is comparatively poor. Personalities of children with visual disturbanceare clearly inferior to that of normal children. But they are similar to normal childrenin some aspects. That is to say, there is not a much difference between them andnormal children. Besides, musical treatment is able to recover and improve personalities of these children. It plays a particularly positive role in both emotion andbehavior control of these children.
