Special musical education has been applied to rehabilitation intervention widely since the 1960s and gradually formed a mature system. The intervention of special musical education makes autistic children have a good musical experience and pose positive impacts on their social interaction and sensing motion as well as other aspects. Based on existing literature both at home and abroad, the paper chooses the autistic child in a family in Songjiang District, Shanghai, as the case of experimental activities—conducting intervention via musical events, summarizes the assessment methods and experimental processes of conducting special musical education for autistic children, draws research conclusions and proposes recommendations and prospects for inclusive education. The first part describes the definitions of music education and special musical education and how special musical education intervenes exceptional children is how to intervene. The case study takes the autistic child Dongdong as the example, and introduces his living conditions and family environment. According to his social, emotional, cognitive, conscious, perceptive and sports level, a special musical education scheme and short and long term goals consistent with his conditions are set. During the implementation of music education activities, eight lessons are available targeting at improvement of Dongdong in different aspects, and they are Lesson 1:vocalization exercises, Hello Song, Goodbye Song, imitation of melody, game of "go-go-stop", I Have a Pair of Hands and Doing Housework. The performance of Dongdong during all the lessons will be divided into three stages and whether he has made progresses will be assessed by the activity data in the end.The second part is research findings and experiment discussion. The performance of Dongdong during all the lessons will be tabulated and discussed comprehensively from following aspects: ① taking initiatives to say "Hello" and "Goodbye" to teacher; ② expressing the "location" where he is and saying "Hi"; ③ increasing the frequency of eye contact; ④ memorizing and imitating melodies; ⑤ extending duration of the act of standing in the game of "go-go-stop". The results show that special musical educational activities can affect the case in some respects. The third part:according to Dongdong’s previous performance and based on the experience I have gained during my special musical educational activities, a special musical education suitable for Dongdong’s case is summarized. Considering Dongdong’s life and learning in the future, the third part also refers to the concept of inclusive education and analyzes the possibility for Dongdong to accept inclusive education. The study finds that:① the intervention of special musical education has a positive impact on the rehabilitation of autistic children; different lesson contents and presentation entail autistic childrenopportunities to experience different music, verbal expression, physical rhythm and emotional feelings, which will make autistic children make progress in interpersonal, verbal communication and cognitive aspects; ② the key to ensuring validity and reliability of the study lies in correctly controlling the implementation of variables, assessment schemes and activity lessons; ③ the relationship between teacher of special musical education and children would have a direct effect on activities’processes and results; ④ interviews with parents of exceptional children are important information for the assessment prior to activities. In summary, it is hoped this study could exert a constructive role for the discipline construction in the field of special musical education.
