With the heated phenomenon of pursuing TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine)overseas, an increasing number of foreigners come to China to study TCM, somecountries even approve the TCM clinics and efficacy of acupuncture is approved as asupplemented medical treatment in some foreign countries. Against this background, theresearch on the translation in TCM is gathering momentum, featuring a hundred flowersblossom and a hundred schools of thought contend. However, TCM originates from thetraditional Chinese culture, which in turn influences its theories and classics; it is a foreignculture to the other countries, the western countries in particular. And in general, thequality of the translation in TCM terms and classics is not high with some mistranslations,impeding the dissemination and application of TCM. Thus, it is of vital importance tostudy the translation of TCM.The report first has an explanation and analysis to the development and currentsituation of the translation in TCM; then illustrate the translation skills including thetranslation of words, terms and tackling of ancient language, the coherence of sentencestructure, demonstration of differences between Chinese and western cultures; after that, itcombines the functionalist theory with the translation version, analyzes the application oftheory in the practice, summarize the translation principles and strategies; last it has ageneral summarization of the whole report.
