Wang Tingchen(1493—1550), whose given name is Zhiqin,and who styledhimself as Mengze,born in Huanggang,Hubei province. He had became a successfulcandidate in the highest imperial examinations in Zhengde twelve years,then selectedas Shu Jishi,given official position named Ji Shizhong. when Wuzong prepared forsouth tour,Wang Tingchen proposed a demurral which violates the Emperor,had beendemoted as magistrate of Yuzhou,later has been remoted from the position tohometown because of dereliction of duty. Wang Tingchen has a masterpiece namedMengZe Ji which had handed down to this day.Enjoying success when young,career ups and downs,being self-conceited andinsolent on account of one’s ability. Wang Tingchen’s poetry creation divided intothree time along with his life experience. High and vigorous spirit, full of splendorsand calm are the biggest characteristics of his poetry when Wang Tingchen been anofficial at capital; as a demoted magistrate at Yuzhou was a transitional period inWang Tingchen’s political life and poetry composition, in which period his poeticstyle is plaintive and resentful. When he returned home after been deposed,broad-minded mingled with grief and indignation had became main features of hiscomposition,and his major works were produced at this time.As a famous literateur between Zhengde and Jiajing period in Ming dynasty,Wang Tingchen is an adherent of”Qian Qizi”,put forward his opinion maintainscompose a poem should follow the tradition and express of one’s ture emotion. Theformer is reflected of poetics holded by”Qian Qizi”,between the two schools of retrotheory,Wang Tingchen prefered He Jingming’s Poetry Faction,the ancient poets hepraised highly were not limited. The later opinion point out poetry should representture nature,especially express depressed and discontented,which is closely relatedwith the literary tradition of chu,and also the personality and life experience areInseparable.There are two reason why Wang Tingchen is well-know. The first is his outstanding achievement in poetry. The second is his arrogance,which not onlyinfluences his attitude toward compose,but also the content and theme of his poetrydirectly. By learning from others,Wang Tingchen formed his own characteristics ofPoetry that flowery language,grand style and profound meaning.
