Ethical Thinking Of The Nuclear Power Engineering

Engineering ethics at home and abroad have received increasing attention, andmany scholars in the philosophy of science and technology are increasingly beginningto study this issue, I think this is a promising and practical significance of the researchareas. However, traditional engineering ethics research too much focus on thediscussion of professional ethics of engineerers. In fact engineering ethics issues moreclosely related with a number of major projects, such as nuclear power engineering,genetic engineering, aerospace engineering, etc. It is in such a context, I would like togive a detailed discussion of the ethical issues of nuclear power engineering, as aengineering ethics case. And I hope to make some contribution to engineering ethicsresearch.Northeastern Japan large earthquake and tsunami caused by the leakage ofFukushima’s first nuclear power, the accident triggered a great discussion of theinternational community whether it should develop nuclear power engineering andhow to develop it, which highlights the many ethical issues for nuclear powerengineering.Combination of the Fukushima nuclear power accident and the nuclearpower engineering around the world, in the view of engineering ethics, it is necessaryto develop the nuclear power engineering. However, this development is conditional,we should improve the ethical norms of the nuclear power project and build thesystem of nuclear power engineering ethics as soon as possible. Firstly, we shoudmake it clear that there are some basic ethical principles of nuclear power engineering,and these principles should be applicable to all countries. Then, we should know thatgovernment, nuclear power companies, nuclear power engineers and the public arethe necessary parts of nuclear power engineering, and all of them must bear their ownethical responsibilities. On this basis, combined with the problems in the nuclearpower engineering practice over the world and the difficulties we faced, I discusseda number of specific topics which nuclear power engineering ethics should include.Lastly, there are still a lot of difficulties in the practice of nuclear power engineering,especially some important issues related to nuclear accident, for this reason, we needa scientific accident early warning mechanisms and allocation of reponsibility. Inaddition, in the future nuclear power plant construction and development, there is adeep game between all parts, so they need a reasonable form of consultations. Then,we can make sure that every part has its own power and benefits, thereby ensuring the rational and effective development of nuclear power engineering.With the evolving of the human society, science and technology, economy, culture,nuclear power project itself will also undergo changes, there will be new ethical issuescontinuely. So the construction of nuclear power engineering ethics should be open,continue to adjust their own theoretical system to follow the development of nuclearpower engineering, explore and address new ethical issues timely, in order to makenuclear power engineering serve to all mankind better.
