Kawabata Yasunari’s literature has a unique aesthetic taste. As an orphan, hisnostalgia had directly contributed to his appreciation and perception to the traditionalJapanese beauty. Kawabata Yasunari’s novels usually descript humble women as theirleading characters; they are faithfully based on Japanese classic literature, and purelyinherit the tradition of Japanese literature mode. Kawabata Yasunari doesn’t onlysuccessfully mixed the western modernism into the Japanese classical literature, but alsoretained the Japanese classic literature mode. This is worth introducing to the Chinesewriters. In the1980’s, Kawabata Yasunari’s novels had been translated into Chinese andbrought great impact on the Chinese writers. By that time China had been through a greatreforming period, therefore the impact on Chinese writers by Kawabata Yasunari’sliterature is inevitable. The external factor would be the development and change of theChinese literary environment; whereas a more subjective reason would be that theChinese writers wanted to improve their writing skills.Yu Hua and Wang Xiaoying may represent the Chinese writers who were influencedby Kawabata Yasunari’s literature. This influence was not only clearly showed in YuHua’s early novels, but also reflected in his aesthetic psychology. Just as KawabataYasunari, Yu Hua’s novels usually descript humble people as their leading characters. Hisdetailed description is also a product of the literary influence by Kawabata Yasunari. While appraising Kawabata Yasunari’s novels, Wang Xiaoying has a more feminineaesthetic psychology. As a female writer she accepted Kawabata Yasunari’s literaturemore easily. Wand Xiaoying’s novels mainly focused on women’s theme; she is good atdescripting the inner world and the delicate feelings of the leading character. The aesthetic psychological impact on Chinese writers by Kawabata Yasunari’sliterature has its profound social and historical reasons. Study on its influence on Chinesewriters will find out both the common pattern and the difference in aesthetic pursuit andtendency of literature and culture between China and Japan.
