Chenyan is in the history of an unique and mysterious cultural phenomenon, it hasbeen popularized in the whole ancient society. After Wei and Jin Dynasty, ProphecyDivination was banned, Chenyan started to spread like wildfire in the form of folkballads and proverbs, and it has greatly influence on the political and the people. Thepopular of Chenyan was inseparable with the low level of awareness of the ancient public.People in ancient times are difficult to understand many complex natural and socialphenomena. Especially when people can’t make a reasonable explanation of manyaccident and coincident of events occurrence, people will explain them by meas ofmysterious culture. Chenyan has profound impact on our traditional culture, and stillexerts a subtle influence on the people’s thought and behavior.Tai Ping Guang Ji is the first large-scale official classical fiction sort book, whichcontent is comprehensive, involving ghosts, anecdotes, customs and so on, it contains theabundant folk culture connotation, and becomes a window to understand the lowerpeople’s lives and beliefs. There are many prophecies fulfilled in the Tai Ping Guang Ji,although its surface description is absurd and strange, but the content is often associatedwith the real historical figures and events, reflected the real trend of the social reality atthat time.In this paper, the prophecies in the Tai Ping Guang Ji as the main material to see theform and mode of transmission of Chenyan before the Song Dynasty, and to explore thepeople’s concepts through the analysis of the cultural connotation in the content ofprophecies. Finally thinking of the reason that the prophecies faith has been declining butwithout disappear so far through the analysis of the residual phenomenon in the modernsociety.This paper consists of three parts including the introduction, the text and epilogue,the body is divided into five chapters.The preface part mainly briefly states the study purpose and meaning of thediscussed subject, description of the current research status, research methods andshortage of this article. ChapterⅠ:Firstly define the definition and the connotation of Chenyan to clearly theobject of study, secondly, to discriminate the similarities and differences between “Chen”and “Wei”, again, discussed in detail of the stage of development from the origin,flourish to the decline.ChapterⅡ:Based on the collating to the Chenyan in the Tai Ping Guang Ji,specifically to discussion the form and mode of transmission.Chapter Ⅲ:During the Han and Wei to the Sui and Tang Dynasties, as Buddhismwas introduced and native Taoism generated, Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhismconstantly conflict and integrate, people’s beliefs and the way of thinking have changed alot. According to this clue, this chapter tries from the perspective of social culturepsychology to interpret and analyze people’s culture valves and psychology whichreflected by different types of prophecies in the Tai Ping Guang Ji.Chapter Ⅳ:Chenyan would not appear without the basis for the present, it is closelyrelated to our real life. This chapter mainly discusses the impaction that Chenyan madeon the real life from two aspects of political life and daily life, and the survival andperformance of the prophecy belief in contemporary society.Chapter Ⅴ:Finally Prophecy Divination thinking behind the starting point to learnthe size of the traditional social and cultural point of view of the Chenyan that representsthe content of some of the social and cultural change in trajectory, and using of Jung’stheory of “Psychology and Collective Unconsciousness” to analyze the cause of thatChenyan has been declining but not yet to disappear until today. Finally, to analysis thatprophecy faith still have its survival foundation in today’s society, which can satisfy thepsychological needs of the people.Epilogue part of the article point out once again that there is no inevitableconnection with Chenyan and the future and destiny, people must be a properunderstanding of the life and fate.
