"Sounded" Heroic And Spirituality Of The Chinese Nationality

Jinnan region has wide variety of folk gongs which are fantastic. Jinnan region owns not only the prestigious Linfeng Weifeng Gong and Drum, Yicheng Flower Drum and Jiangzhou Drum Music, but also Xiangfen Coloratura Drum, Soft stick drum and other dozens of folk gongs and drums, it is well known as the cradle of folk gongs and drums. There are so many kinds of folk gongs which give us not only different forms of audio-visual experience, but also highlight their precious culture and research value. As a scholar and researcher of percussion music, and also as a Jinnan citizen, I have the responsibility and obligation to understand and research the folk gongs and drums of Jinnan Region.This paper combined data and literature and made a first introductory overview of the Jinnan region, including information such like its geographical location, climate, environment and history; at the same time, it talked about the long history of drums from its origin until the drumming culture in Jinnan. Next, the author chose the Weifeng gong and drum as researching objects and analyzed their form of performance, performing characteristics, instrumental configuration, current existing situations and similar researching fields. And then, a detailed analysis is made from an objective view concerning the popularity of the Jinnan folk gongs among the people. In order to explore the gong and drum culture among the Jinnan people from different context environment, the author also made comparisons with other percussion music to reflect their differences; at the same time a discussion from an ethnological point of view about how cultural changes affect the folk gongs in Jinnan is discussed. Finally, a rational reflection of the heritage and development of the folk gong in Jinnan is made and some constructive suggestions for ensuring its healthy and orderly development suggested. This provides both inspirations for studying and researching about folk gongs in Jinnan.
