“The Su Shui Ji Wen” is a quotation from body notes, it is accurate like records, which was written bySima Guang that a famous historian in song dynasty. The content, status and influence can not be comparedwith “Zi Zhi Tong Jian” which is Sima Guang`s history masterpiece. But it mainly recorded the sixdynasties of northern song dynasty (906-1070), emperor, the minister of civil, military and political events,the DPRK Chapter Masanori, as well the historical events of Qi Dan, Xi Xia and so on,both contents anddata are complicated and rich, so its historical value cannot be ignored.“The Su Shui Ji Wen” spread sowidely that it had different volumes, the title before the song dynasty was also not unified, there weremany versions, too.This topic research selected the current version, which was selected carefully by Mr Deng Guangmingand Zhang Xiqing at first, then compared to all kinds of manuscripts and printed copy, at last was correctedsuccessfully.Many entries of “The Su Shui Ji Wen”, are widely quoted by other important sources of historicaldocuments such as “San Chao Ming Chen Yan Xing Lu’’,“Wu Chao Ming Chen Yan Xing Lu’’ and “XuTong Jian Chang Bian”, and other historical documents are dated from it. It so truly recorded and narratedevery historical details that can correct errors of other books and can also make up for the lack of historicaldocuments, such as “Song Shi”. It narrated vividly in an orderly way, opening and closing moderately,character image is clear and plump. Although it narrated historical events, the content is not though orboring, it is easy for us to read. It not only has important philology value, history value, but also has thecertain literature value.The content of The Su Shui Ji Wen” is complicated, arranging disorderly, though there is not a systemin it, between the lines it revealed the author’s realistic thoughts, Confucianism, and anti--ZaiYi, FuRuisuperstition but it did not deny the thought of Heaven.“The Su Shui Ji Wen” has a high value, it is worth studying. For a long time, many historians believethat “The Su Shui Ji Wen” is one of the data compilations preparing for “Zi Zhi Tong Jian Hou Ji”.However, it is extremely unlike for Sima Guang to write “Zi Zhi Tong Jian” with the reason of Northern Song Dynasty’s history policy, environment and Sima Guang’s personal circumstances. Therefore, it isdoubtful that “The Su Shui Ji Wen” was written for “Zi Zhi Tong Jian Hou Ji”.
