As one of the self-guided commentaries in tourism sites, signs in scenic spots play a very important role in guiding the visitors in the most direct way whose functions are introducing the background knowledge, transmitting the culture and providing visitors with various services. It has become the most frequently-used way in self-guided commentaries in tourism sites. Therefore, the C-E translation of the signs in scenic spots will naturally play a key role in cross-cultural tourism, for it will decide whether the historical or cultural connotation conveyed by the signs in scenic spots is completely and clearly understood or accepted and even affect whole quality of foreign visitors’tour in China.After the analysis of those studies on tourism translation in China, it is concluded that they mainly focus on the error analysis of tourism materials in some certain areas, but short of studies on translation of scenic spots in tourism sites. And even in those current studies relatively related with the signs scenic spots, they are still lack of systematic research.With the Translational Approaches as Adaptation and Selection as the theoretical guidance, this thesis attempts to establish a translational practice model which includes three stages:preparation before translation; operation of three-dimensional adaptive selection during translation and evaluation and correction after translation. And the current author hopes that this model be applied into translating practice of signs in scenic spots in China and make it more professional in operation, more standard in quality and more efficient in culture transmission. Besides, a lot of source materials about the signs in scenic spots are collected to carry out the example analysis under the guidance of the translation model, aiming to give a clear instruction on how to operate the translating process. |
