Regret is a kind of emotion which is related closely with decision making. It is the painfulemotional process caused by comparing the real results and the hypothesis. Regret is a kind of socialemotion, and it is an emotion which can often be experienced in daily life. In addition to regret experienceitself, it will lead to a certain impact on decision in the future, which makes people take strategies such asrisk seeking and risk avoidance when they make a decision. Therefore, regret is one of the feelings whichpeople most wanted to avoid in daily life. The discovery of action effect and inaction effect in regret hasresulted in a new flurry of psychological research on regret which makes it become a main research field insocial cognitive psychology. Simultaneously, action effect and inaction effect are still the primary rulesdiscovered during the research of regret. Many factors can affect regret. As a result, the study of regret in psychology is carried out frommultiple points of views and aspects. Whereas, the study of action effect and inaction effect in regret indecision-making focus on the origin and influencing factors of regret as well as regret intensity. Theseresearches are mostly centered on the theoretical model of regret, regret and counterfactual thinking and theeffect of regret intensity on decision-making. During the research, the wildly used method is scenarioapproach. By scenario approach, responses of participants generated mainly according to their imaginationwhich has a certain difference from the real life and behaviors of individuals. As the development ofcognitive neuroscience, the insights of research onregret has been extended. Especially the research has acquired a series of achievements by fMRIand EPR methods. At present, there is few research of the neural basis of regret, and studies of neural basisof inaction effect are fewer. Consequently, based on the previous work, we explore action effect andinaction effect in regret by event-related potential method. In this work, paradigm wheel-of-fortune was used to study the action effect. The study of ERPs indecision-making was by way of recording and analyzing ERPs induced by feedback stimuli. We found outthat the right and wrong of decision-making affected significantly FRN and P300. ERPs of action effectwere influence by the results of decision-making. When the results were right, there is no difference between action effect in FRN and P300. While the results were wrong, there were differences betweenthem. In a word, action effect and inaction effect can influence both of FRN and P300.
