"Try and error", one of the most important learning approach, by which we get the knowledge about how to adapt the changefully environment and survive well in the world (Thorndike 1911/1970). Whether we can get the right information and do appropriate behavior adjustment after a "try" action, depends on whether we could evaluate the feedback of our try action exactly and timely. Thus feedback processing is one of the foremost cognition functions of our brain, and past studies has revealed that there was special mechanism in our brain executing the feedback processing function. And the research about feedback processing in our brain has become a focus in cognition neuroscience (Nieuwenhuis et al., 2004a).After we make any try action, we'll outline a positive feedback expectation before the feedback onset. Then outcome appears, we'll process the feedback by two sections, first step is preparing the results with our expectation to know they are consistent or not; the other is emotional feeling with happy emotion for positive feedback and depressing emotion for negative feedback. To be belief, the feedback processing contains a cognitive processing section and an emotional processing section. And previous studies suggested that the Feedback Related Negativity and P300 are two main components that related to feedback processing. But we still don't know how the FRN and P300 corresponding to cognitive and emotional processing, which mainly because there yet not perfect experimental task that could dissociate those two mental factors well.In experiment one, by a "guessing and confirming" task we dissociated the perceptual conflict detection and error detection from the feedback stimuli. Results showed that not only guess error but also color different could elicit an evident negativity peak about 240 ms after S2 onset, meanwhile, the guess correct and color same condition did not elicit negativity peak at 240 ms after S2 onset. And these two kinds of negativity are similarly in topography and dipole source. These results suggest that these two kinds of negativity reflect a general conflict detection of the anterior cingulated cortex (ACC) between actual and expected stimuli or perceptual representations. And the P300 mirrors feedback processing and has the reinforcement learning significance.By experiment two we further investigated the relationship between components FRN, P300 and the two mental sections: cognition and emotion. This experiment is a between subjects design using money personality to choose two kinds of people who have sharply different money attitudes. And the task is a classical simple gambling task. People have different money attitudes modulate their love level of money and could lead significant different emotional felling after loss or gain money, while their cognitive processing is same after loss or gain same number money. Results showed all the money personality, money gain/loss and response correct/incorrect could elicit significant different FRN and P300 effect. Which means those two components are coequal related to feedback processing. Not only the FRN but also the P300 could reflect the good/bad processing. And both of those two components could mirror the money personality effect. While the corresponding relationship between those two components and two mental sections is still unclear, which need deeper study.By this study, we investigated the properties and function of FRN, P300 to feedback processing, and revealed that not only FRN but also P300 has coequal significant to feedback processing. And we have made a try to study the corresponding relationship between FRN, P300 and cognitive processing, emotional felling.
