ESP of the Fashion Design and Project Majors at Wenzhou Universityhas set up for ten years.There are many situations during the teachingpractice,such as unreasonable instructional program and curriculumestablishment, instructional effect is not outstanding,instructionalevaluation is questioned by students and personnel training can’t meet thesocial need,and so on.This paper aims to improve the graduates’ESPability and competition level of the Fashion Design Majors at WenzhouUniversity,satisfy the needs of society for Clothing professional versatiletalents and solve the problems in the Clothing professional instruction.Based on the instructional objectives of Garment specializedEnglish,the implementation of teaching process and the improvementsuggestions about instructional effect,the paper carried a questionnairesurvey to the teachers and students of the Fashion Design and Project Majors at Wenzhou University; made In-class observation and recordabout the Clothing professional instruction and situation of students’reflect; had an interview to the graduates who has accepted Clothingprofessional instruction; carried comparative teaching experiment in theclasses which accept the Clothing professional instruction together in thesame term.Furthermore, the paper has analyzed the effects of Garmentspecialized English instructional process, instructional methods, the finalpaper and the use of Garment specialized English, researcher found thatstudents of the major has a lower basic English level and reception;teaching methods can’t satisfy the characteristics of practical applicationwhich Garment specialized English always has been emphasized.Instructional effect was unsatisfactory, evaluation methods become amere formality. Being directed against the above mentioned problems, theauthor has pondered over the following question thoroughly: ESP courseoffered, the way of giving lessons, evaluation mechanism and how toraise students’ ability to using specialized English during enterprises andinternational affairs about Garment.According to analysis, the writer get the conclusions as follows:instructional objective of Garment specialized English should meet thelearners’ needs and the social demands; the selection and building ofteaching materials should follow principles of applicable and practical;evaluation mechanism must emphasize students’ practicalapplications in the actual tasks instead of appraising base on the scorewhich given by the final exam or the specialist to the instructor; Garmentspecialized English instructional methods and teaching environmentshould further improve, and so on.
