A Study On Language Situation Of Residents Of Farm854in Heilongjiang Reclamation Region

The survey is to study the language situation of residents of Farm854in Heilongjiang Reclamation Region by issuing questionnaires. This thesis, using sociolinguistic research methods, supplemented by software such as SPSS18.0, describes basic situation of the language use, language competence and language attitude of residents of Farm854, and studies the difference and correlation between language situation and different variables including’gender’,’age’,’educational level’,’occupation’,’parents’occupation’,’education background of the parents’,’place of birth’,’place of residence’,’satisfaction of their competence of Mandarin’,’the most beautiful language they like’,’the unique choice of language’,’the language they envy other people who can speak’ and their identities.Firstly, this thesis studied the objective aspect of language situation of residents of Farm854, including the language use of residents in different situations, understanding and application of different language, especially their level of mandarin. It also analyzed the different languages used and language ability with different common variables, time variables differences and psychological variables, as well as other influencing factors.Secondly, it studies the subjective aspects of language situation of residents in Farm854, that is, the language attitude, including the evaluation of mandarin and the comparison of different attitudes to mandarin, northeast dialect and their native dialect.Finally, it shows the conclusion, thoughts and suggestions based on the study, analyzing social and cultural factors affecting the language situation of residents in Farm854, and suggests the government helping the residents to establish the correct awareness on dialects, protecting dialects actively, and constructing mandarin positively.
