The rapid development of economy has brought Chinese people increasing needs formaterials. In order to enhance relationship with the world market and improve people’smaterial living standard, more and more foreign products have been imported to China.However, differences of cultural and language environment between Chinese and Westerncountries restrict Chinese consumers’ purchases and have negative influence on the selling ofimported goods, therefore product introduction plays an important role in the import andexport trade, its translation should be paid enough attention. Hence, the author chooses twoEnglish product introductions to translate and make an analysis of the translation process.Product Introduction is pragmatic text and falls into popular science category, beingprofessional, concise, strongly persuasive and having an explicit purpose. It mainly offersservices for consumers, and its purpose is to sell goods through building great company imageand introducing products to consumers. As the Functional Translation Theory takes skopostheory as its central part and emphasizes Target Text readers, therefore it can be used as theinstructional theory to product introduction translation. Under the instructions of it, the authorfirstly gives text analysis to each part of the two product introductions and then translatesthem through adopting proper translation skills and strategies such as transliteration, freetransaction, synthesization and division etc..After finishing the translation some inspirations are summarized. Firstly, the translatorneeds to have a general knowledge of the whole source text before translating it. Secondly,after confirming the skopos of the source text, the translator should adopt appropriate skillsand seek various methods to solve difficult problems with an earnest attitude during thetranslation.
