Since the reform and open to the outside world, and with the implementation of“going out” strategy, the foreign trade of China has witnessed a rapid developmentand Chinese enterprises have built a close relation with foreign enterprises. However,due to the language and culture obstacles, and for the purpose to set up a close traderelations, it is necessary to translate the contract correctly and illustrate its connotationmeaning properly.The source texts of this project are two sales and purchase contracts in Englishand on a large scale, which all belong to one Smelting Co. Ltd. of Yantai. One is apurchase contract of gold ore, another is coal purchase contract, and both of them arethe only English versions. This report aims at using Nord’s text-analysis model oftranslation-oriented to discuss the translation features, methods and matters needingattention in Business contract, trying to focus the discussion on the guidingsignificance of Nord’s translation-oriented text analysis in adopting translationstrategies.Introduction briefly introduces the project from the whole content and structure‘sperspective, and lead in the translation theory.Chapter two briefly analyzes the project choosing process, research meaning andapplication value, and then illustrate the content and structure of the project in detail.Chapter three deals with the description of the difficulties in translation, whichmainly concerns about the various problems encountered in translation, such as thespecial terms, passive voices and complicated sentences.Chapter four explores the application of text-analysis theory, in this part, theauthor will focus the discussion on the content and application of Nord’s text-analysismodel in translation, and how it helps with the problems encountered in translationChapter five serves as the conclusion of this translation practice, which is simplyabout the summary of the contents mentioned in this report. In addition, this part alsodiscusses the achievement and the significance of this translation as well.
