Liu Zhenyun is focused on describing society in Chinese contemporaryliterature writer of the "zilch". Since the popular "Ta Pu" was completed in1987, LiuZhenyun has been trying to observe people from Scenes of life and expressing theirethos. But, when entered into the80s after "new period", the concept of "zilch" hasalready not limited to “Small civil servants, ordinary citizen”. At the same time, itdoesn’t refers to the oppressed people of old society or toiling masses of socialistliterature. In the mid80s,"zilch" was removed "the oppressed" and "exploitation"reflect social class label. It mainly refers to little civil servants, ordinary citizen,migrant workers, local farmers and so on. Because of the economic poverty, theyencounter all kinds of embarrassment in front of the social rules and helpless. At thattime,owing to portray the Gray life of "zilch" Gray life in the "unit" series of novels,Liu Zhenyun caused widespread concern. Over the next20years creation, he alwayspay attention to the "zilch" in urban and rural society. Liu Zhenyun always keep a"pioneer" to explore and adjust the narrative strategy, expression constantly. He triedto break out of the encirclement from different periods of "mainstream literature" and"new mainstream literature". On the one hand, he challenged solidify understandingabout "zilch" of history and reality in "mainstream literature". On the other hand, heconstructed his view of characters and version of history. In the concrete work, LiuZhenyun always describes their dismal, absurd, impetuous and heavy life. Because ofdiscovering the recessive character and complex human nature of the "zilch", hebecome a writer with unique temperament and significant contribution in thecontemporary literature.However, Most of contemporary critics choose research methods about history, narrative and rhetoric to research novels. They explore the aesthetic value from themeinterpretation, narrative pattern and language style of Liu Zhenyun,s novels. But theyusually don,t research the image of "zilch", let alone the systemic research. Thelimited number of master’s papers review Liu Zhenyun,s literary view from historicaland cultural position. In this premise, this text plays a complement and promote rolein the research both of Liu Zhenyun novel and of contemporary literature in China.On the basis of the research and the achievements about the "zilch" in LiuZhenyun,s novel, I analysis the novels carefully. At the same time, with the existingresearch of Liu Zhenyun,s novel and with reference to classic "zilch" in history ofmodern and contemporary Chinese literature, I try to Study the uniqueness method ofLiu Zhenyun, characterization. I read the Liu Zhenyun novels since the80s carefullyand classify all the "zilches".According to the different survival environment it mainly divided into twocategories about Liu Zhenyun’s "zilch". One is petty intellectuals living in urban in thenovels of "The Unit" and "Ground Covered with Chicken Feathers", the other isfarmers in "Home series" and vernacular fiction in new century. However, because ofthe different spirit of the "zilch" and different ways of shape, famers are divided intoservility consciousness and self-consciousness awakening.Therefore, Liu Zhenyun molded three kinds of people in the twenty years ofwriting career. They are persons who lost the ideal, spiritual alienation, persons whoare looking for something lonely. I analyzed Liu Zhenyun,s narratives in differentperiods, and read the research achievement of Cheng Xiaoming, Cheng GuangweiDong Zhiyin, Li Jingze, Chen Fumin, and Guo Baoliang. I found that the choice ofLiu Zhenyun narrative method and the characters he will performance are correspondroughly. He described petty intellectuals of urban with "new realism"(persons wholost the ideal) in the80s. In the90s, he described servility consciousness of"zilch"(spiritual alienation) in hometown with "new historicism". At last he Writtenthe subject consciousness of vernacular, alternative "zilch"(the seekers withloneliness) with the realistic style in the new centuryIt is not incidental coincidence. For a writer with mature techniques and profound thoughts, each option has a reason. Then, why does Liu Zhenyun write the"zilch"? What kind of attitude about the author? What different between them andother "zilch" at the "mainstream" writers? How does he break out from the"mainstream literature" and "new mainstream literature"? They are what I thought.In order to solve these problems, I divided the paper into three parts. The firstpart, I analyzed the image about Xiao Lin, Xiao Li, Xiao Libai and so on in LiuZhenyun,s "new realism" novels in the80s. By comparing the different methods of"The mainstream literature" about "Seventeen years","Scar","Reflection" and "Thenew mainstream literature" about "new realism novels ", I found more complicatedattitude of Liu Zhenyun in the writing of "zilch".In this section, In accordance with the narrative perspective, position andnarrative language, I analyzed how Liu Zhenyun abandoned the simple binaryopposition about criticism/sympathy. I think about why doer the author turned thekey of writing from life to spiritual gradually and introspect the survivalsignificance of little intellectual who lost the ideal.The second part, I talk about the problem from the transformation of LiuZhenyun narrative strategy in the90s. From the writing style with Irony, the structurelayout of long show, we can see that Liu Zhenyun want to have a new breakthrough.Then turning the key of writing from life to spiritual gradually is his breakthrough.Here, With reference to the traditional socialist revolution, Revolutionary history andNew mainstream narrative such as "new historical novel" in the90s, I Analyzed theunique expression of "zilch" with ironic tone. Then I points out the limitations in theshaping of image.In the third part, I mainly researched how doer Liu Zhenyun transform the modeof narrative to breakthrough bottleneck described in the90s and Complete the writingof vernacular Chinese farmers. At the same time, I discuss how Liu Zhenyunbreakthrough the new mainstream of suffering "the writing about bottom suffering"and how challenged the ossified understanding of local farmers with the attitude ofreverse. I also interested how to keep in "pure literature" in the secular literatureconsumption. It was in this way, understand and agree with "zilch", rather than consume them.In this part, I analyzed the lonely experience of the "zilch" first. Then I discussthat how can the choice influence the unique temperament of the "zilch" with thenarrative of "tangle" and the theme of "find".
