In this paper, on the behold of Historical Materialism, the mechanism of unity toconformity with law and purpose in the social and historical process has beenexplained from the dimensions of Marxist historical philosophy.The key to the question is what the subject of law and purpose is. Theunderstanding of conformity with law and purpose is quite different according to thedifferent view of subject. Not only ‘Realistic Individual’ is the beginning of theHistorical Materialism, but also the conformity with law and purpose. On the onehand, man’s activities is kind of selective activities based on the man’s need andpurpose that is affected by themselves and objective conditions. So the purpose andresult are hard to be conformity. On the other hand, man’s activities are constrained bythe law of social history, who showed the interaction relationship between subject andobject. However, restricted by external as well as internal conditions, the activities inreality are always difficult both to conform to the requirement of law of history, and tothe individual purpose. In short, social history is a dialectical unification process toconstantly conforming rules to achieve the purpose, And people’s activities areachieve the unity to conformity with law and purpose under the function of threemechanism---Casual determinism, Interaction theory and Historical resultant theory.For people’s activities, regularity and purposiveness is the process of constantlyreducing blindness and enhancing autonomy, spontaneously and blindly developing toregular under the function of law. Therefore, the unity to conformity with law andpurpose is only a dynamic trendy unity and trendy fusion process; and also is theprocess of realm of necessity gradually toward the realm of freedom.
